FAQ

Questions, answered.

If yours is not here, email support@poku.chat and it will probably be here next week.

Getting started

What Poku is and how logging works.

What is Poku, exactly?

A personal finance assistant you talk to. Instead of filling in forms, you tell it what you spent in plain language and it files the transaction for you. Then you can ask it anything about your money and it answers from your real figures.

How do I log something?

Type or say it. “lunch 12.50”, “petrol 40”, “got paid 3,200” all work. Poku reads the amount, picks a category, and shows you a card you can tap to correct. It learns from your corrections, so the same merchant lands in the right place next time.

Does Poku connect to my bank?

No, and that is deliberate. There is no account linking and no credentials to hand over. Everything Poku knows is something you told it. That means logging is manual, and it also means there is no standing read access to your accounts for anyone to abuse.

Which currencies does it support?

Any currency. You pick yours when you start, and Poku formats every amount the way your currency is normally written. It never converts between currencies.

What kinds of questions can it answer?

Anything grounded in what you have logged. “How much on food this week?”, “what did I spend at that coffee place last month?”, “can I afford a $200 jacket?”, “am I on pace for my budget?”. It reads your actual figures rather than estimating, so the numbers are yours, not a guess.

Privacy and security

Where your information goes, and how to delete it.

Does my financial data go to an AI company?

Your chat messages do. When you send a message, that message, a short window of recent conversation, and the specific figures needed to answer it are sent to our model provider to generate a reply. We send the minimum required, never your whole history, and we configure our routing to only use providers that do not train on your data. The privacy policy sets out exactly who processes what.

Can anyone else see my transactions?

No. Isolation is enforced by the database itself through row-level security, so one account physically cannot read another account’s rows. It is a database constraint, not an application rule that could be forgotten in a code change.

Do you sell my data or show ads?

No to both, and there is no third-party analytics or tracking in the app or on this website. Poku is funded by subscriptions, which is the whole reason it can be funded by nothing else.

Can I delete everything?

Yes, from Settings inside the app. Deleting your account removes your transactions, budgets, categories, Repeats, Pockets and conversations. The cascade is enforced by the database rather than a cleanup job, and it is permanent.

Plans and billing

What is free, what Pro adds, and how to cancel.

What do I get for free?

Every feature. The free plan is not a stripped-down version: budgets, Repeats, Pockets, custom categories and every currency are all in it. What is capped is volume. Free gives you 15 chat messages a day and 75 a week, 50 manually logged transactions held at once, 3 custom categories, 2 Repeats and 2 Pockets. Reading your own data, budgets and summaries is always free and never counts against the message limit.

Is the free limit 50 transactions ever?

No, it is 50 held at once. Delete an old one and the slot frees up, so over time you can log far more than 50. Transactions created by a Repeat do not count against it at all.

What does Poku Pro cost?

$4.99 a month or $39.99 a year, with prices varying by region. Pro raises the message limits to 200 a day and 700 a week, and removes the caps on transactions, categories, Repeats and Pockets.

How do I cancel?

In the App Store, not in Poku, since Apple does the billing. Open Settings on your iPhone, tap your name, then Subscriptions, then Poku. Full steps are on the support page. Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription.
